
In Bengaluru, a notorious criminal known for robbing travelers on the Bengaluru-Tumakuru highway and other locations was shot in the leg by the Dobbaspet police. The injured individual is identified as Jayanath, also known as Battery Jayantha, aged 26, residing in Alur village in Kanakapura taluk, Ramanagara district. In a recent incident, Jayanath and his associates attacked a truck driver with daggers near Billanakote of Nelamangala taluk, injuring him and stealing his mobile phone and cash. Jayanath also snatched an iPhone in Peenya in another incident.
The police, along with the victim using the Find My Mobile app, tracked Jayanath to Gittigerepalya Cross on the Dobbaspet-Ramanagara highway. Despite warnings, Jayanath attempted to flee and attacked two constables with a dagger, prompting the police inspector to shoot him in the leg. Jayanath was taken to a hospital for treatment before being transferred to Victoria Hospital.
Jayanth is known to have a criminal record that includes 51 cases of attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, burglary, and vehicle theft. He reportedly started his criminal activities at a young age. A case of attempted murder under BNS Section 109 and the Arms Act has been filed against Jayanath based on the complaint filed by Inspector Raju.
